Challenge Life...

(Click the picture for the Challenge Life link)

"The past five years, the “Challenge Life Youth Foundation” has played a significant role in improving the mental and physical wellness of citizens living on the Arctic Slope and Northwest Coastal regions of Alaska. “Challenge Life” has introduced education programs in reading, writing, social studies, mathematics and science in a creative and exciting format. They have initiated health, nutrition and anti-drug programs to people of every age. Finally, they have worked closely with local citizens and business organizations to establish professional training and a local mentoring program."-Challenge Life Mission Statement

We had an opportunity to listen to Mr. John (JD) Doiser about challenge life and what his organization does for students in Alaska, specifically in smaller villages. The students listened very well and took away some knowledge about living a better, healthier life. Today they are able to participate in a camp that Mr. Doiser is putting on for the students-Hopefully I will update with pictures later...

This is such a great opportunity for the students, and I only wish that it could be more frequent having these organizations take some interest in our children.

Thanks Mr. Doiser!

Congratulations!

We attended graduation for the class of 2009 on Saturday (May 9). With nine seniors wearing their cap and gowns and walking towards the future, it was a pleasant evening full of laughter and tears. It was nice to be part of such a turning point in these students lives, as Clint and I had coached or was able to get to know each and every one of these students. Mr. Hickerson, the superintendent was able to come out and support the seniors. It was a good evening, and it's getting down to the final days of the 2008-2009 school year.

**Congratulations to the class of 2009!**

What did you do today?

Well, for me it was a big butt kicking, fastest-monopoly game losing day for me! Clint and I decided that since we have shipped almost everything we own up here down to White Mountain, that we should play games. We walked to the school to get a game of Monopoly. Man, was it a fast game. I lost quickly as Clint took over the entire game.

Thank goodness he's in charge of our finances!

Where would you rather be?

At least the sun is out here and hopefully we don't miss the good Ketchikan weather...

*****Countdown 2 WEEKS!
